Wow, this morning was weird!!! First, I really don't remember waking up. Second, I searched the house about two or three times before I found my glasses (on my bed under a fold in the sheets). So... I wake up this morning thinking about whether or not I should buy A)anime B)manga or C)nothing on the way to babysitting this weekend. We-he-he-he-hell... the phone rings, my mom answers it. Later she comes in my room and tells me "That was [insert name here], she said she doesn't want you to babysit anymore b/c you were doing a bad job." I thought she was joking at first. My mom has never really liked me going over there and is always trying to get me to quit. Well, she wasn't joking. Apparently I'll get an email later (I'm still waiting). I don't think I was doing a "bad job," but I know that I wasn't really enjoying it and really only did it out of a sense of loyalty (they're like family to me) and (I'll admit it) money. Heck, it was only $50 a week-end. I guess now I'll HAVE to get a real job. I'm sure my mom is happy about this. I guess that's why she seemed all smiley when she told me (so I thought she was joking). I'm taking this as God working in my life, changing it slowly for the better. Now, if he would drop the perfect job in my lap. One for a person with no car, no liscence, and no ambition. Yeah, good luck with that.

Some guy peed in front of my house yesterday, in broad daylight, in the middle of the road! My cousin and I looked out the window. We saw some kid standing in the middle of the road. At first I thought he was pulling up his pants. Bryan thought he was just "holding himself". But then we noticed the stream of pee.

I just finished watching season one of Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter.
I loved it!
It's old, sometimes cheesy (i.e. her "invisible plane"), but I still loved it, and Lynda Carter.

Even though we're passed the age of bra burnings and such, it made me shout "Girl Power!"

Once again, I did not recieve my Shojo Beat in the mail this month! I didn't get it two months ago, I had to buy it in Wal-Mart, last month I got it in the mail, but this month I haven't recieved it yet. The last issue said that October's issue would be out in stores today, and subscribers are supposed to get it in the mail BEFORE they hit stores. At least they add an issue on to your subscription when you let them know you didn't recieve your issue....

So, I've joined something ELSE! Urbis. You sumbit stuff you've written... stories, poems, journals, quotes, and can get reviews and comments. The only thing that sucks (but also makes sense) is that to unlock and read your reviews you have to have enough credits. You get these credits by reviewing other peoples works. It makes alot of sense, but for people like me that suck at reviewing and don't really like it... oh well... i try.

Yesterday and today I've been watching The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mysteries Season two. They are such classics. One episode had a very young Melanie Griffith! The one I'm watching now has Kim Cattrall! See, to me, Pamela Sue Martin IS Nancy Drew. And, although I want to see the new Nancy Drew movie with Emma Roberts, it will never be the same. To me, she's too young to be Nancy Drew.

Also I got Laverne and Shirley (also sn. 2) from the library. I love that show! With one of my friends... I'm Shirley and she's Laverne, although the more I watch it, I wonder if it's now the other way around...

I also really like A Different World.

Manga

You know what I was thinking would translate well into manga or anime format...?

I loved the books when I was younger (I still do).
They tried to make a show out of it, but the special effects were atrocious. Well, some of them... they spent all their money on the morphing scenes and not enough on the aliens. Poor Prince Elfangor looked awful. This is not to say I disliked the show (i do admit that i laughed at the special effects though... still do). I think it would make a very interesting anime series. You could even just make a movie. And if that did well on the market, you could make the Andalite Chronicles, the Ellimist Chronicles, and all the others.
That's just an idea I came up with a while back and thought I would share.

Yay! Yesterday I got my Shojo Beat in the mail!!! It's been a while, since last month I didn't get one in the mail. :`( But, they extended my subscription by one issue, so, yay!!! I love my Shojo Beat!!! My favorite this month was the new manga- Honey and Clover. Finally! A manga set in college instead of HS. It's really funny. I also enjoy the new manga (started last month) The Sand Chronicles. SB Readers seem to really miss Nana, now that it's gone, but I never connected with it b/c I came in too late. When I started reading SB, Nana was already on chapter 20-something. The other manga I never get into is Crimson Field. It was also on chapter 20-something, but it's also about sports, a subject I could care less about. Next month sees the introduction of Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time. I'm very excited, but also confused b/c I thought it was the same story as the anime- Noein (ani-monday on Sci-Fi). But now I'm not so sure. The pictures look nothing alike and they mentioned something about "dragon boys". Well, on Noein there is a "Dragon Torque" ?? I don't know, we'll see if they say anything about it...

This weekend I read an article in Christian Odyssey, a Church of God publication. It's called No Contest: Why the argument over Genesis? This is something I've always been perplexed by - the biblical story of Creation (6 days) vs. scientific evidence to the contrary. This article makes a very good point, which I'm inclined to believe. It says, first, that not everything said in the bible is literal, quite a bit is figurative and/or allegorical. This article says that the Bible set the creation story as it did for several reasons. 1- to set it in terms that the people of the day could understand. 2- to counter the polytheist stories of creation. It's a very interesting article and I suggest reading it. I don't normally show great interest in religious articles, but this one captured my attention and held it all the way through. A Dream

The other night I had a fairly disturbing dream. During the dream I was half-awake, but didn't immediately realize I was dreaming.

I was laying in bed when I heard a noise. I got up to look and saw a dark figure in the doorway. I dropped to the floor, but it was too late. He had seen me. He had a rough voice, but spoke to me like I was child. "It's too late, sweetheart. I know you're there." I could see he was wearing a cowboy hat. I rolled under the bed, but he knew where I was. He sauntered over to the bed. I could see his feet inches from my face. He bent down and jabbed my arm with a needle. Immediately I knew what he had done. I started to feel sleepy. He lifted the bed with one hand, and helped me drag myself out from under the bed with the other. This is where I realized I was dreaming...

Sliders

I just got Sliders Season 3 last night (I have 1&2 as well). I'm watching the episode Dream Masters right now. Quinn, Wade, Remmy, and the Professor land on an earth where a group of losers now possess the power to enter peoples dreams and, essentially, scare people to death, literally. Poor Wade spurned a Dream Masters advances and ended up as his new target. Now the others have to enter her dream and fight off the Dream Masters.

I like Sliders a lot. I don't know if I LOVE it, but I like it a lot. I guess I love it if I bought 3 seasons. They were cheap. $20 for seasons 1&2 together, and $20 for season 3. Weird, but it's the same number of discs, so... it works out.

I love getting shows on DVD. I have seasons 5-9 of X-files (working on 1-4), season 2 of F*R*I*E*N*D*S, Jeff Foxworthy season 1, seasons 1&2 of LOST, V the Complete Series, 4400 seasons 1-3, Doctor Who seasons 1&2, and of course the afore mentioned Sliders.

Harry Potter

Well, everyone else is writing about Harry, so I guess I will too. I'm not very good at reviewing things b/c, on the whole, I'm pretty easily satisfied. But, here goes...

Spoiler alert!!!

->I thought Harry and Voldemort were both going to die, I had prepared myself for it, and would have accepted it had it happened. So, when Harry lived I was pleasantly surprised. I do love a happy ending, so it was nice to see him and his friends all grown up with their own kids going to Hogwarts, but at the same time, a part of me was wanting a different, more unusual ending. I do enjoy those types of endings as well.
->I also enjoyed Neville finally showing us all why he was placed in Gryffindor. It was his crowning achievement, slicing of Nagini's head.
->I always knew Snape was on our side. That doesn't mean I liked him, really, but I noticed he was always there to protect Harry and his friends. I do agree though with the general opinion I've seen, so let me repeat... "Poor Albus Severus Potter!"
->Part of me really thought Dumbledore was still alive(especially after Harry saw that blue eye in the mirror), but I enjoyed learning about his backstory and meeting his brother, Aberforth. After all of that, I felt ok about him really being dead. Especially since Harry got to talk to him on the train.

After I finished reading, I felt that letdown I always feel afterI finish a really good book. You know, you can't wait to finish it, but once you do, you wish it wasn't over; that you could keep reading...

As much as I think it would be cool to read about the "new generation," we live in the Age of Sequels, and I am so sick of all of them. If it was already a series of books- that's different, but a movie is a success so they make another one, and another one, and another one, until finally the world wants to barf... Just say no to unneccessary sequels.

P.S. I'm watching Laverne and Shirley on DVD... love that show!

I must also say that I've been watching some anime shows on tv lately. I don't know a whole lot about any of them-- I haven't seen many episodes of any, but...

I really enjoy Noein (Which I believe is coming to Shojo Beat as Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time), I also like Tokko. Those are the ones I've seen the most of, curtesy of SCI-FI's ani-monday!
I have seen only one episode of Full Metal Alchemist and Inuyasha, but I also enjoyed them.
At some point I want to see Rozen Maiden on DVD, and it would be cool if I could buy Noein on DVD.

My new love

My new love is Anime/Manga. I'm relatively new to the genres, but I'm not completely ignorant. I have a subscription to Shojo Beat, which teaches me about Lolita, j-pop, etc... I love Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli films, I own Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, and Nausicaa. I have also seen Spirited Away (love it, favorite!) and Kiki's Delivery Service. I own 7 volumes of Manga- Bizenghast V. 1&2, DramaCon V.1, Chobits V.1, Rozen Maiden V.1, Yurara V. 1, and Earthian V.1.
I must go now, gotta let the dog out... but I'll be back. (dun, dun, DUN!)
